Description
Region: Cote Rotie, Rhone, France Producer: Domaine Benjamin Et David Duclaux Vintage: 2021 Grape: Syrah with 3% Viognier
Type: Red
Size: 150cl
Notes:
Dark red fruit, blackcurrant, very pure on the nose, slightly closed though, soft and fruity, bright red cherry and a touch pepper, floral, red flowers, red currant, Pinot-esque a light floral acidity, this will drink almost from the off.
A favorite of the 2018 vintage, this Germine from the gneiss soils of the south of the appellation confirms the balance and energy that tasters have so enjoyed in the past. Sweet spices, black cherry and blond tobacco make up a fine and fulfilling bouquet. Both full and crisp, the palate is based on supple and melted tannins, and stretches into a tasty finish with a delicately woody accent of nutmeg and bitter cocoa. A beautiful fullness for this bottle for laying down.
Food Pairing: Slow-cooked Lamb, beef, duck, game meat; mild- strong cheese
About the Winery:
On their 5.8 ha estate, founded by their great-grandfather in 1928, the Duclaux brothers only devoted themselves to the Côte-Rôtie appellation (two vintages, La Germine and Maison rouge). Since 2014, they have also been offering Condrieu. Their vineyard is located to the south of the appellation, on gneiss soil, on the steep hillsides of Tupin-et-Semons.
