Domaine Francois Cotat, Sancerre Caillottes 2022, Blanc, Loire

"Les Caillottes" takes its name from the very fine soil composed of stones, flint and limestone pebbles sheltering the young Sauvignon Blanc vines. The harvests are often late, not with the aim of bringing residual sugar to the wines but just to bring a certain softness, a tender side which translates into more smoothness in the mouth.

The aging of approximately 8 months in 600-liter tuns aged 6 to 8 years produces delicate and tonic juices, sincere reflections of the singularity of their terroir. Wines are bottled according to the phases of the moon and without filtration

No surprise for this Sancerre “Les Caillotes” which hits the mark at each tasting. This 2022 turns out to be a little riper than usual, a consequence of a particularly sunny vintage: lily, fresh mango, roasted grapefruit.... On the palate, the material remains lively and well-taut, a finish on which returns to citrus fruits with a mineral hint.
